Find out why it is mandatory to replace a PPE after a certain number of Hours of Operation

Respiratory Protective devices are key components when working in hazardous environments. These devices are specifically designed to block and filter dusts, vapours, gases and micro particles which could be inhaled or swallowed while on the job.

The use of personal  protection systems, therefore, reduces the risk of contracting diseases, especially those of the respiratory tract.

Respiratory protective systems, designed for people who work closely with highly volatile material, are light, comfortable and facilitate breathing.  However, they do not last forever.

After how long should a PPE be replaced?

Occupational Health and Safety legislation has often questioned PPE service life and which parameters were required in order to determine that a safety device needed to be replaced.

Italian Legislation has not set a time limit, but has determined that, when the device shows signs of wear such as to no longer ensure minimum safety conditions, the PPE is to be replaced, and, in case of non compliance, violations are subject to administrative penalty.

Kasco  is in a position to provide qualified assistance to help understand whether PPE servicing is required.

When needing to purchase new Respiratory Protective Equipment,  it is fundamental to first assess its features and uses as there are numerous types of respiratory protective devices on the market.

Obviously, each system is intended for a specific purpose and must not be used for protection against hazards for which it is not designed: e.g.  a particle filter, must not be used for protection against gases.

In order to avoid having to buy a new device for each use, it is advisable to opt for a system with replaceable filters or one that can be matched to multiple tasks and work environments.

Kasco   provides spare parts for all its products and knowing that you can simply replace a part of the respiratory device without having to purchase a completely new  product  is often an incentive for the user who will certainly find it convenient to just change or substitute a part and still have a safe and certified product for use in hazardous environments.
